Cities visited, cities “remembered” and reanalysed through painting and colour: from Ljubljana to Prague, Shanghai, Moscow, and New York and, in Italy, Naples, Trieste, Como, and Turin.
The works recount the spaces, lines, perimeters, and heights of buildings by way of the concise rhythms of emptiness and fullness. In the show, besides the works on canvas, are a series of watercolours and a selection of works on paper devoted to the city of New York. A section of the show contrasts and compares rationalist architecture and Russian Constructivism: from Giuseppe Terragni’s Casa del Fascio and Novocomum to the working men’s clubs by the Russian architects Mel’nikov and Golosov.
